Child Support Division

This division is responsible for the collection and disbursement of child Support payments for thousands of active accounts, including those administered under Federal IV-D regulations and Indiana statutes.

The Child Support Division is located in the Adams County Courthouse, 112 S Second St., P.O. Box, Decatur, IN 46733 (260) 724-5310. The office is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and all legal holidays.

The Adams County Clerk's office is responsible under Indiana law for the collection of child support payment ordered paid through this office by the Adams County Courts. The Adams County Prosecutor's Office or private counsel (attorney) may pursue enforcement of child support orders. The Adams County Clerk's Office, Child Support Division receives, disburses and accounts for the payments posted by this office only.

In 1999, the federally mandated ISETS system (Indiana Support Enforcement Tracking System) allowed for some payments to be processed by the State of Indiana. This occurred as a result of the computer conversion to ISETS. The Indiana State Child Support Office is located at 402 West Washington, Room W160, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

Emancipation:

Please remember that child support cases are generally closed when a child turns the age of twenty-one (21). There are instances in which this is NOT the case. When in doubt, please contact your attorney. The Child Support Office should be formally notified of your child's emancipation.
